Disqualified taekwondo athlete

Taekwondo Federation accusing Yang Shu-chun of cheat by adding two extra illegal sensors to her heels and disqualified for the match. Our government’s official already asked the delegation that they have to maintain our country’s dignity and continue to ask the organizers to find out the truth and maintain our athlete’s rights.

No one can accept the result they said Yang Shu-chun was wearing the sensors during the match, and pictures published in Friday’s United Daily News back their claim. Moreover, they want to know why the head of the World Taekwondo Federation has put forward and retracted different reasons for the disqualification. It is extremely unfair to our athletes, so our government will provide full support to the Sports Affairs Council in its efforts to help our athlete. The taekwondo controversy has put to rest any doubts about the strength of Taiwanese nationalism. A local taekwondo association has pledged to sponsor Yang if she wants to continue in the sport, and some people are even calling for a boycott of Korean products.

We definitely need to protect our country’s dignity. We have to ensure that our athletes enjoy their legally protected right to be treated fairly. If the organizers kick someone out unfairly, if they fail to show the same spirit displayed by the athletes, then of course we will argue strongly for what is right.
